Studio Space at St Laurent
by Ann Warburton
I had been looking for some open studio time, some place I could work with other artists, be motivated, perhaps even learn a few new techniques. After all, sometimes working in a home studio can have its distractions. There are other things I could – or should – be doing.
When I heard that Arteast would run an open studio pilot project in November, I jumped at the chance. The St-Laurent Complex has a large visual arts studio with plenty of easels, a sink, and good lighting. And the price was right too.
We have now completed three different days of studio time. And I’m pleased to say I’ve completed two pictures, and made great progress on a third. Everyone who attended seems to be pleased with the time spent in the studio and the atmosphere we are building. There is certainly a lot of motivation and lots of energy in the room, plus sharing of tips and ideas. We play a bit of music, have some social time, and of course are meeting and making new friends.
Plans are now underway for more studio time starting in January 2014. Perhaps we will see you there?
